Some basic lawn mower questions and answers.
How often should I get my mower serviced ?
Most mowers benefit from yearly servicing especialy with e10 fuel, the engine oil is also not filtered, the engine usually lasts for longer than the mower anyway, so every other year is ok for smaller gardens or economy.
Can I use e10 fuel in my mower ?
Yes e10 fuel will be fine in your mower etc.
Try to buy quality fuel from a proper garage and aim to store it for 3 months max.
A steel Jerry can is air tight, so preserves the fuel better than a plastic green can.
Store the fuel and fuelled machinery as dark and cool as possible, wooden shed.
Storing machinery outside or especially under a plastic sheet will cause condensation and breakdown.
Always put fuel lids back on quickly and refuel out of the rain.
Draining your lawn mower carburetor at seasons end can help remove water build up if you can, servicing also covers this.

How can I look under my mower ?
For safety mains mower unplug them, battery key or battery out,
or petrol mowers unplug spark plug cap and move to the side,
to clean or inspect the underside always tip the mower backwards onto the handlebars, trapping them under a shed door or use a sand bag etc to weigh it down,
never turn a mower sideways or oil or fuel will leak out.
How should I clean my mower ?
A lawn mower is easy to clean 10 mins after use, let it cool down first,
a stiff brush and scraper is all you really need, wire brush for stubborne areas works a treat, some mowers have an auto clean hose fitting which is fine, just lower the deck and plug the hose in and run up,
never use a power washer as this will strip paint and grease which will rust your mower faster, and dont use washing up liquid as it contains salt, I generally favour dry cleaning.
Quick spray of oil WD40 etc 2-3 times a year will be good on rusty moving bits,
do not use liquids or water on electric or battery mowers etc, dry clean them only.
For a top tip drain petrol lawn mower carburettors once or twice a year if you can pictured in the link below, if you cant do this it is covered in a yearly mower service for your convienience.
